It Started with a Case of Poison Ivy.

In early August of 2021 (Harpswell, ME), Jocelyn let her pack of wily dogs run off, watching their leashes drag behind them, like bouncing party streamers. A week later, she was ordering drive-through in her bed sheets, nursing a snake-shaped rash wrapped around her legs. An ER visit confirmed that the rash was caused by urushiol oil, likely transferred from one of the dogs' leashes.
The rash lasted for weeks, and the experience was behavior-changing. The piles of nylon/rope and polyester leashes were discarded; she no longer let her dogs drag their leashes behind them, and she became reliant on a single glow-in-the-dark plastic leash, which was flimsy and frustrating to keep track of. It was the only leash that felt safe enough to use.
It wasn't long before she wondered if there were any machine-friendly leashes on the market.
To her astonishment, nearly all of the leash options on the market are impossible to keep clean, HAND WASH ONLY (including Bio Thane) - not made for a washing machine.
